Shoreikan Karate Club -presentation

Shoreikan is a Karate Club in Lahti, Finland, founded in 1979, and registered in 1981. Our Club belongs to the Finnish Karate Federation and to the Finnish Shorinjiryu Association. When Tarmo Leppänen was in charge, the style was changed to Shorinji-ryu Renshinkan, which is also the present style now. In the latter half of the 1980s the chief instructor and a great actor of our Club was Erik Raittinen, 4 dan. Afterwards, from the beginning of the 90s, the training and influence has come from Sensei Yuji Matsuoi, 6 Dan Kyoshi. Since 1.1.2005 Hannu Nietosvuori has been the chief instructor of the style in Finland.

Our Club has received strong influences from Soke Iwao Tamotsu, 10 Dan Hanshi. From our club e.g. Hannu Nietosvuori, 5 Dan has visited him. Our Club is intensively involved in domestic and international competition activities. Our Club has also quite active practices for both its junior and senior members.
